My internship at Kulkul Tech gave me the opportunity to explore different aspects of the tech
industry, develop new skills, and take on challenges beyond my usual experience. One of the most meaningful parts of this journey was having a mentor who encouraged me to go beyond simply being an assistant. I was given opportunities to take on new responsibilities, learn about project management, and explore new areas of technology.
Improving the Internship Experience
One of the projects I contributed to was improving Kulkul’s internship program. I explored Kulkul’s existing internship website and looked for opportunities to enhance the experience for future interns. This initiative eventually contributed to the development of the Kulkul Fellowship website, supporting a new learning experience for aspiring tech professionals.
The Kulkul Fellowship is a peer-to-peer facilitated learning journey—an intensive program where participants learn how modern software development works. Being involved in this project helped me understand how research, planning, content, and collaboration come together to develop a learning program. It was also rewarding to contribute to something designed to help others learn and grow.
Exploring Technology, Research, and Marketing
Throughout my internship, I had opportunities to learn more about AI and emerging technologies, conduct research, and contribute to marketing and communications initiatives. I helped prepare social media content, promotional materials, and communications for the Kulkul Fellowship launch and Career Talk. These responsibilities gave me a broader understanding of how technology programs are developed, communicated, and introduced to their audiences.
More importantly, I learned to approach unfamiliar tasks with curiosity and a willingness to try. Not every experience was something I had done before, but each one gave me a chance to learn something new.
Growing Beyond My Comfort Zone
Looking back, one of the biggest lessons from my internship was the importance of having someone who encourages you to see your own potential.
My mentor challenged me to take on responsibilities beyond an assistant role and explore experiences I might not have pursued on my own. Through these opportunities, I began learning more about managing projects, collaborating with others, and navigating different areas of technology.
I realized that contributing to the tech industry does not always mean writing code. Research, communication, coordination, and improving learning experiences can also play important roles in building something meaningful.
My experience at Kulkul Tech reminded me that sometimes, the best way to learn is to take on a challenge you have never faced before, step outside your comfort zone, and figure things out along the way. This internship was more than an opportunity to gain work experience. It helped me broaden my perspective, discover new interests, and become more open to possibilities I had not considered before.
Ultimately, my journey at Kulkul Tech was about more than the tasks I completed. It was about
discovering what I could do when I was encouraged to go beyond what I already knew
